Williams Theatre. \u00a0Fusing avant-garde,\u00a0pop &amp; vaudeville  sounds, Timur and the Dime Museum creates a rich\u00a0amalgam of  sensibilities with Bjork fierceness, and Screamin\u2019 Jay\u00a0Hawkins  theatricality.\u00a0\u00a0Led by the rising opera singer from\u00a0Kazakhstan Timur  Bekbosunov, profiled in LA Weekly&#8217;s BEST OF LA People\u00a0Issue 2011, the  band\u2019s stunning intensity brings songs to cure the new\u00a0depression with a  post-punk bohemian attitude. Interactive multimedia,\u00a0conceptualized and  designed by World Technology Network fellow\u00a0Jesse Gilbert, along with  striking cinematic images by experimental LA\u00a0filmmaker Sandra Powers,  will further enhance this macabre evening of musical performance.<\/p>\n<p>Formed as a result of collaboration with the Klaus Nomi songwriter  Kristian Hoffman, dark glam band Timur and the Dime Museum, described by  Los Angeles Times as \u201cpunk-operatic spectacle\u201d, has appeared at the  prestigious ALOUD series; on America\u2019s Got Talent; opened for Tiger  Lilies, The Red Paintings, DeVotchKa, Prince Poppycock; Un-cabaret  (Margaret Cho); premiered operas \u201cZoophilic Follies\u201d by Daniel Corral at  Redcat Theater\u2019s NOW festival, and \u201cCrescent City\u201d by Anne LeBaron. Led  by \u201cstratospheric tenor\u201d (LA Times) Timur Bekbosunov, recently featured  in LA Weekly\u2019s BEST OF LA 2011, the band embraces multi-disciplinary  collaboration as part of their ongoing work with composers and  songwriters.<\/p>\n<p>Immediately following their successful debut at the ALOUD series at the  Mark Taper Auditiorium in LA, Timur and the Dime Museum established a  strong following of fans, and received endorsements from artists, such  as Amanda Palmer, DeVotchKa and Sondre Lerche. \u00a0The band performed in  numerous venues around LA and beyond, including Portland, San Francisco,  and Seattle. \u00a0The band creates unconventional and fascinating sounds,  combining Timur&#8217;s \u201ccharismatic tenor\u201d (LA Times) with electric guitar,  upright bass, accordion, bass clarinet, viola, and drums. \u00a0Embracing the  notion of multi-disciplinary contemporary projects, T&amp;DM began\u00a0a  series of collaborations, directly working with composers on their  music.
