American clarinetist David Krakauer\u2014equally at home in the classical repertoire and in klezmer and jazz\u2014and South-African composer-pianist Kathleen Tagg bring an eclectic and highly personal program to Berlin\u2019s new concert hall.\u00a0Breath & Hammer<\/em>\u00a0is an exploration of shared artistic values and a celebration of differences. Krakauer and Tagg recast works by close associates and friends from around the world into new electro-acoustical contexts and set them alongside their own compositions. The musical program is enhanced by an immersive video feed by American artist Jesse Gilbert, specifically designed for the unique space of the Pierre Boulez Saal.<\/p>\n Widely considered one of the greatest clarinetists on the planet, David Krakauer has been praised internationally as a key innovator in modern klezmer as well as a major voice in classical music. In 2015 he received a Grammy nomination in the Chamber music\/small ensemble category as soloist with the conductor-less orchestra \u201cA Far Cry\u201d, and a Juno nomination for the CD \u201cAkoka\u201d with cellist Matt Haimovitz.
